Eclectic Homewares Store is Born in Kincumber
A chic, new store has been born in Kincumber and in it’s first six months it has already grown into a beautifully curated collection of art and homewares from all over the world – and the Coast.
Born – which stands for borrowed, old, refurbished, new – is the stylish baby of former Sydneysider Mark Patrick, a PR guru who now calls Macmasters Beach home.

After 25 years representing myriad luxury brands, Mark’s long list of friends are the sort of people you’d want at your next dinner party – Australia’s design, culinary, arts and fashion leaders.
The culmination of a lifetime of travel and the finer things in life, Born showcases some of Mark’s, and his friends, favourite things.
Everything has its place and a story to tell and nothing has been sourced en masse from trade shows or gift fairs.

Crockery from chef Christine Manfield and Country Road line the back wall.
Long-time friend and purveyor of beautiful Indian things, Joan Bowers, has contributed authentic, handmade bedding, garments and accessories.
You will also find James Gordon’s paper artworks, illustrations from children’s artist Louise Pfanner, and traditional Thai-style ceramics from Colin Davies.

Local talent is well represented with Mark’s partner Geoffrey Veivers among the Central Coast artists contributing to the store. We hear some of his collection will soon have its own home in a shipping container gallery out back.
Nurses by day and designers by night, Who the Dickens, a crafty Coastie couple, design beautiful oil burners, bespoke letterboxes and even an outdoor shower, especially for Born.
Renowned travel writer Susan Kurosawa – a weekend Coastie – has also contributed some exotic textiles from her travels across the Sub Continent.

We feel a bit like a magpie inside the eclectic emporium. Everything is eye-catching.
A snug striped throw, a vintage Coca Cola tray, retro Moët goblets, sparkling glassware, silver-plated espresso cups…
It’s official – homewares shopping on the Coast has been reborn.
