Festival Fun at Mountain Sounds
Looks like heaven (if heaven is a place that glitters with rainbows and unicorns), sounds like fun and opens the gates to all walks of life – we can only be talking about Mountain Sounds Festival, the Central Coast’s annual celebration of beats and bass, funky freewheeling spirits and soul-sparking dance moves.
In its fifth year, the festival of music, art and culture offered the chance for locals to get pimped out, glittered up and hustle in the picturesque gardens of Kariong’s Mt Penang Parklands in what was the biggest and longest event yet.
A three-day fiesta of fancy dance moves, ecstatic smiles and ripe beats, there were many magical moments on the mountain and festival fashion was next level.
The crazy I-don’t-give-a-dam types and free-style boot-scooting babes had the chance to try that fashion move they’ve been itching to take and it resulted in some of the sweetest get ups around.
It’s all possible because of the carefree and stare-free nature of the festival – #nojudgement.
This is a festival that celebrates and enchants every kind of individual with its divine display of musical culture.
This year the line up was as delicious as ever with Hayden James, Amy Shark, Hot Dub Time Machine, Nelipot, Gang of Youths and Peking Duk all taking the stage and blowing the minds of up-for-it locals.
Under the colourful canopy and bathed in bright light, arms up, bodies packed tight, punters partied on into the night on Friday and Saturday.
At the end of the three-day event, when day turned to night, the lights were no longer so bright, outfits were torn and worn and boots scuffed and roughed, festival-goers left the mountain packing a little extra love and lots of lifelong memories. That’s the magic of Mountain Sounds.
Here are some of our fave frames and folk from the festival…
