The Goods

Sonoma’s famous sourdough will be on offer as well as handcrafted baked goods such as pies, sausage rolls, croissants, morning buns, turnovers, cookies, and cakes. Central Coast locals will also be able to discover a decadent range of pantry essentials like batch roasted granola, house made jams, and specialty coffee. Flavours and single origins will rotate seasonally, and make perfect gifts for the gourmet foodie.

Sonoma’s new ‘Bake-at-Home’ range will be launching exclusively at the Terrigal location. Sonoma’s expert bakers have created the ultimate range of pastries that can be baked in any home oven to make it easier to entertain family and friends. Flaky sweet and savoury creations that include Chunky Beef Pie, Country Chicken Pie, Pork Sausage Rolls, Quiche, Apple Pie & Double Chocolate Chip Cookies will be available instore.

The Bake-at-Home line will give customers the opportunity to create the irreplaceable experience of hot, freshly baked pastry straight out of the oven. Customers don’t always have the time to bake from scratch, so Sonoma has provided easy, wholesome options using the same quality ingredients and artisanal techniques found in their products that are ready when you are.

The Story

Sonoma Founder Andrew Connole’s career as Sydney’s leading artisan sourdough baker was born out of nostalgia. His late father, Kerry, a truck driver, had childhood memories of eating fresh bread from a wood-fired bakery in Bellata, population 500, 570km northwest of Sydney.

“I am excited to be opening in Terrigal. To me, bread is more than just a staple, it’s a way of life and I want to share that passion with the local community,” said Andrew Connole. “Terrigal is a special place to me as it is where the humble dream of Sonoma began back in 1998. I worked 150m up the road at the Crown Plaza whilst we were setting up the original bakery in Bellata. Travelling 1080km round trip we would drive from Terrigal to Bellata and back to mix, shape and bake 300 loaves of sourdough, returning on Friday evening with 2 hours sleep to then sell at the Paddington markets on Saturday in Sydney. Those were intense times, but we were determined to build Sonoma.”

“We realized many of our customers have friends and family on the Central Coast and were already aware of us,” says Terrigal site co-owner, Leanne McVeigh. “Sonoma’s founder, Andrew, is originally from the Central Coast, so it’s a homecoming for him.”
