Wamberal renovation an absolute showstopper

A before and after renovation story doesn’t get much better than this Wamberal property, which was transformed from an original old brick home into a spectacular resort-style lifestyle acreage.

Point Frederick designer Lisa Shipton and her husband Warren Shipton are a powerhouse team when it comes to renovating houses.

It makes sense – Warren owns a construction company, and as well as designing kitchens, Lisa also runs a photography business. Together, they have the creative flair to completely transform homes, and while they never go into renovating with the idea of selling, it just seems to happen.

“We’re not flippers, we always build to love and stay, which was the plan with our previous project in Somersby, which we also renovated and sold,” Lisa said.

“We bought the Wamberal property four years ago with the intention of staying. We loved that it was so close to the beach, but also on land.

“The inspiration with this one was to create plenty of separate spaces because we have older kids. So bigger bedrooms, with ensuites in every room.”

The tree-lined driveway runs past a beautiful dam and orchard to resort-style surroundings that transport you to another world. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, the property is set on more than 2.5 acres and centred around a one-of-a-kind pool and entertainment zone that was designed by Warren and Lisa, owner-builders for the project.

Open and airy, an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area flow via floor-to-ceiling stacker doors to an enormous patio space featuring a barbecue, Italian pizza oven and fire pit area. A sparkling heated pool (lined by Jewels4Pools) and whirlpool spa with bar seating wraps around a covered, heated pergola area.

“We love pools and worked with the incredibly talented Deane Poile of Deane Poile Designs, who helped us with the design and brought our vision to life with all the plans and council process,” Lisa said.

Inside, an incredible amount of detail and love was put into the build, with the couple sourcing beautiful products like the 100-year-old wharf posts from Ironwood that now hold up the outdoor patio roof. French limestone tiles throughout are from Barefoot Living at Manly and the internal barn door is made from recycled American Barn Timber from Havwoods.

There are four bedrooms, all with lavish underfloor heated ensuites and large walk-in-wardrobes; the master suite features a stunning freestanding bath and private deck area.

On top of all this, there are two additional luxurious powder rooms, a completely separate home office area with two offices and a meeting room, an additional media room, ideal as a second study or as a fifth bedroom, commercial grade conducted air conditioning, 17kw solar panels and a private wine cellar.

With such unique architectural features unlike anything else in the area, the property recently sold for a record price of $5.2 million through Cathy Baker of Belle Property Central Coast.

“The property achieved the highest acreage sale for Wamberal and one of the highest acreage sales on the coast,” Ms Baker said.

“It does not surprise me, though, it is an absolute showstopper. Lisa and Warren are so talented at what they do.”
